These adventures have spawned a pictorial travel journal of the people of the places visited. Faces of the places tell the tale of personal interactions that prompted the inspiration for the paintings.

This fictional character Juan Corbétt sprang forth as an element of this project. Narratives were needed for a group of portrait paintings that explore various styles and techniques. Story-lines developed along the way to support the paintings. A twofer has evolved; a combination of visual arts paired with creative writings.
Juan's role is that of the "MacGuffin" an intrinsic component unifying the story with the images. Rather than the archetypical hero, the Juan Corbétt persona is closer aligned to a Antihero with some Byronic hero characteristics. He is not conspicuously flawed, simply an ordinary artist, a noble warrior fraught with human frailties.
The backstory begins with; Mom was a Prima Ballerina with Spain's National Dance Troupe, Pops the stereo typical Parisian artist. Conception began in their studio on the Left Bank of the City of Light. While traveling to Hong Kong baby Juan unexpectedly arrived at the Goulash train station.
The streets of Paris wasn't a suitable environment for this rambunctious youngster, so Lil' Juan was sent to live with the grandparents in the Highlands of Spain. They had a Iberian cattle breeding operation for "corrida de toros".
Up here is where the foundations of life were defined, all the metaphors for ride'n, rope'n and wrang'ln were taught. Juan's formal academic training began in Europe, first one Art School then another, eventually landing in North America, onto South American.
It is from here our lovable knucklehead and wide-eyed wonderer jumps on to the world stage for the ride of his life. The matador's dance with death begins.
